Ice Sculptures Light Up Auburndale, Raising Funds for Children in Need

This Saturday, the small town of Auburndale will come alive with an enchanting display of illuminated ice blocks, all while supporting a worthy cause. The event, known as the Auburndale School Forest Ice Glow, promises to offer visitors a mesmerizing experience with over 200 frozen artworks crafted by skilled artisans. In addition to the stunning visuals, attendees can enjoy warm treats and a bonfire to keep them cozy during their visit. All proceeds from this event will be directed toward Sleep in Heavenly Peace, a local nonprofit organization dedicated to providing beds for children who lack this essential item.

The creation of these ice sculptures is no simple feat; it requires not only artistic talent but also favorable weather conditions. Temperatures must remain below freezing for the water-based masterpieces to maintain their frozen state. Visitors are invited to stroll through the Auburndale School Forest, located at 10704 Park Ave, where they can admire the glowing ice blocks from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Saturday. To ensure guests stay warm, organizers have arranged for hot beverages and hearty soups, along with a roaring bonfire.

Sleep in Heavenly Peace, the beneficiary of this event, operates with a clear mission: to provide beds for children in need. The organization commits 80% of its funds directly to program expenses, which include purchasing materials and tools necessary for constructing beds, as well as providing bedding and mattresses. The remaining 20% supports management and fundraising efforts. Notably, the nonprofit does not allocate funds for salaries, ensuring that donations are used efficiently. In April, Auburndale High School will host a bed-building event, further contributing to this noble cause.

The Ice Glow event serves as both a visual spectacle and a heartwarming opportunity to support children in need. By attending, visitors not only enjoy a unique winter experience but also contribute to making a tangible difference in the lives of local children. The combination of artistry, community spirit, and charitable intent makes this event a highlight of the season in Auburndale.
